It’s really good
Bought it as I had some cosmetic work done by an Auckland plastic surgeon in March and I’d been buying the smaller tubes from his office to hydrate my surgical scars as they heal. Decided to buy directly from the supplier this time to get a bigger tube of the alhydran, it seems good. My scars are continuing to heal and I use it religiously on them.

Post Radiotherapy Wonder
I was undergoing radiation therapy and using the provided gel as a skin care treatment. One of the nurses advised me to try Alhydran. The improvement was immediate. I don't do reviews as a rule on products, but this was an amazing change. I continue to use Alhydran as a post treatment cream, and my skin is great. I totally recommend this cream for use when undergoing radiotherapy.
The 100ml ALHYDRAN tube is the ideal everyday medical retention cream and scar moisturiser for long-term care at home. It is clinically tested for burns, surgical scars, radiation skin reactions and acne marks, helping restore the skin barrier, reduce tightness and support smoother, more comfortable skin over time. Many people move to the 100ml tube after trying the 30ml size and deciding to make ALHYDRAN part of their daily scar care routine.

Why choose the 100ml ALHYDRAN tube?
This 100ml size is designed for regular, medium-term treatment – when you need more than a travel tube, but don’t yet require the full clinic-size 250ml. It’s popular for:
Ongoing post-surgical scar care once stitches have been removed
Home management of burn scars after hospital or burns clinic follow-up
Daily moisturising of radiation-affected skin during and after treatment
Longer-term support for acne scars, pigmentation marks and dry, tight skin
Patients who have responded well to ALHYDRAN and want a reliable “everyday” tube
Many people use the 30ml tube first to trial ALHYDRAN, then step up to the 100ml size once they know it suits their skin and fits their daily routine. The formula is fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive or eczema-prone skin, making it a dependable choice for long-term barrier support.
How ALHYDRAN moisturising cream works
ALHYDRAN is a powerful, clinically proven medical retention cream and scar treatment. It combines intensive hydration with barrier repair so that damaged skin can recover more effectively.
Penetrates deeply to restore moisture levels in the upper skin layers
Helps normalise transepidermal water loss (TEWL)
Softens and smooths skin affected by burns, surgery, radiation or acne
Reduces feelings of tightness, itching and dryness
A healthy skin barrier
A healthy skin barrier holds a stable amount of water and acts as a shield against external irritants. When the barrier is disrupted, more water escapes through the skin, the epidermis dries out and skin becomes tight, itchy and vulnerable to scarring. ALHYDRAN is formulated to help restore that balance.
When the skin barrier is compromised
When the skin barrier is damaged, the body loses an abnormally high volume of water through the skin. The natural water content of the epidermis falls and the barrier can no longer function properly.
Typical symptoms include:
Severe itching, irritation or burning
Redness and inflammation
Dry, tight or flaky skin
Slower wound and scar healing
Over time this can contribute to unfavourable scar formation, trigger eczema flare-ups and prolong discomfort. Skin in this state needs intensive hydration and barrier restoration to recover.
ALHYDRAN scar cream is used widely in burns centres and surgical clinics to support this process and can be continued at home with the 100ml tube for ongoing care.
The hydrating effect of ALHYDRAN
ALHYDRAN has a dual action, both essential for repairing a disrupted skin barrier:
Optimal hydration of the epidermis
Support for long-term barrier recovery
Clinical studies show that ALHYDRAN can restore the moisture balance within 2 hours, thanks to:
Powerful hydration from fresh Aloe Vera gel
Moisture retention via gentle occlusion (“water-locking” effect)
Antioxidants and high-end natural oils help protect the skin from free radicals and support elasticity. Together, these effects reduce the risk of scarring, ease itching and discomfort, and promote optimal wound and scar healing.

Many people in New Zealand use ALHYDRAN 100ml as their go-to medical moisturiser for areas that have previously been burned, irradiated or surgically treated.
Medical retention cream: ALHYDRAN case studies
The effectiveness of ALHYDRAN has been scientifically demonstrated in multiple medical institutions, university hospitals, burns centres and rehabilitation clinics throughout Europe.
With more than 15 years of clinical use, ALHYDRAN is now a trusted scar cream in New Zealand for burns, surgical scars and radiation-affected skin, both in hospital settings and at home.
These case studies show improvements in scar flexibility, hydration and comfort when ALHYDRAN is used consistently as part of a long-term management plan.
This depends on how large the area is and how often you apply it, but many people find the 100ml tube suitable for several weeks of daily use on a medium treatment area.
Can I use the 100ml tube after surgery or burns?
Yes. Once the wound has fully closed, ALHYDRAN is commonly used as a post-operative scar cream and burn moisturiser to keep skin soft, supple and comfortable.
Is it suitable for long-term use on sensitive skin?
The formula is fragrance-free and clinically tested on sensitive and eczema-prone skin. It is designed for ongoing use where a medical moisturising cream is needed.
Should I choose the 30ml, 100ml or 250ml size?
The 30ml tube is best for trial or travel, the 100ml tube is ideal as your main daily home-use size, and the 250ml tube suits larger areas or very long-term treatment as guided by your clinician.
